The general assembly of the Hungarian Olympic Committee on Saturday morning began with Tünde Szabó's speech. The former Olympic silver medalist swimmer, who is leaving the post as the Secretary of State for Sports, stated that she will not say goodbye to the world of sport just because she will be doing other tasks in the future. She also stressed that in recent years, the Hungarian sports world has delivered so much success, and a successful (near) past also foreshadows the success of the future.
Zsolt Gyulay, president of the Hungarian Olympic Committee, described the general assembly as a very important milestone in the life of MOB and recalled that after his election, he promised to restore the general assembly to the parliament of sports: "This is also necessary in order to make our voices heard properly. Hungarian sports must grow up for the task, it must not always wait from politics only what assignments it should do. The Hungarian Olympic Committee represents Olympic sports and the profession, and perhaps no one knows better than us what sports need, what it takes to succeed, and what young athletes need. I believe that we have some kind of mission – when I applied for this position, I did not know how much work we had to do, I just presumed it. Ádám Schmidt, the new State Secretary for Sports who cannot be here today because of a trip abroad, and I had, and will have, a great relationship with Tünde Szabó. I hope that in the new government structure, we will be able to create a situation in which MOB can adequately represent the interests of Hungarian sports and show the way for young athletes and everyone."
Zsolt Gyulay stated in his speech that MOB must commit itself to the goal of having the first European Olympics after Paris in Hungary.
The members of the general meeting then unanimously adopted the supervisory board and auditor's report, MOB's simplified annual report, the bureau's report, and the organization's budget, and the new statutes were given the green light. The latter was also given the green light – the latter was voted in favor by 40 members, one voted against, and one member abstained.
According to the decision, the former delegation system will be restored, and the organizations removed last year, such as the Hungarian Paralympic Committee, the Association of Immortal Hungarian Athletes, the Hungarian Coaching Association, the Hungarian Sports Journalists' Association, sports science, sports health, and sports medicine organizations, will return as MOB members again.
On Saturday, the general assembly of MOB re-elected Imre Dávid as chairman of the supervisory board with one abstention, and the new member is Roland Nátrán, president of the Hungarian Table Tennis Association.
And the honorary members elected by the general assembly are Endre Hazsik, Zoltán Molnár and János Pakucs.
