Marco Rossi said of the match in which the Hungarian team led 2–0 and then had a 3–2 advantage as well.

„If I said I was completely satisfied, I'd be lying. Before the match, however, I would've easily bet on a tie. I'm in pain because of what happened on the field. If we didn't make those big mistakes at 2-0, we'd have the three points now. But we even responded well to it. There was a time for the national team to lose in a situation like this, but now we were able to put pressure on the opponent. Then came another serious mistake... I've been telling the team all week that we should never lose sight of Lewandowski, especially inside the penalty area! He shot twice, one of which was a goal. I feel sorry about this game, but we know we're not at their level at the moment. If they don't have that many legends on the team, we get the three points.”

Paulo Sousa said after the game that they would've deserved the three points better because they came to win. Marco Rossi reacted:

„After five minutes into the game, we led a match we were preparing and planning ahead for. It's true that we should've defended high up; they had more possession of the ball. I wouldn't say, though, that they would've deserved to win or that I'm too biased against Hungary.”

He added that they could've done better in the forward runs, only partially validating what was planned. He was very pleased with Roland Sallai and Ádám Szalai, but he expected more from the midfielders. The quality they represent didn't come out of the players now.

„I would've expected a little more from Kalmár in particular. His style of game didn't work out in the first half of the match. We should've kept the ball better in midfield. And yes, we went into risky things in front of the net, just like we made big mistakes on all three goals. But the Hungarian national team didn't play against me and my two younger brothers. The value of the opponent must be treated in its place. We didn't become Brazilians just because we've had historic successes in recent times.”
