It's already been revealed that Ádám Nagy and Dániel Gazdag won't play in the preparation match against Cyprus due to minor injuries.
“They have minor injuries, but their condition is not serious, so their participation in the European Championship is not in danger. They are available to the team against the Irish,” Rossi stated earlier.
Before Thursday's press conference, the bus carrying the Hungarian team arrived with a police escort at the Szusza Ferenc Stadion where the national team trained from 3.30pm.
Ádám Lang, who's been playing football in Omonia, Cyprus for two years, started the press conference. He said that the Cypriots play a simple but fast, stable, and organized football. They started the World Cup qualifiers well, earning four points in three games. The defender says that with a quick, combinative game, it's easy to beat the Cypriots, and that's what the Hungarian team is preparing for.
"I'm Omonia's player for another year under my contract. I don't know what the future has in store for me, but right now, I'm focusing on the national team," the defender said of his career.
Marco Rossi received a question from Nemzeti Sport about Friday's expected lineup first.
“I've got my basic ideas for the European Championship. We'll see how much time proves them. We're now in a late-season situation, tactically and in terms of fitness, the experience of the preparation matches is important. But the most important thing is to win because winning is the best way to prepare for the tasks ahead," said the head coach, who wants to see playing as many players as possible in the two pre-European Championship preparation games, where six could be substituted.
The head coach also talked about, when asked by NSO, who could replace Dominik Szoboszlai and Zsolt Kalmár in their posts, and who would execute their corner kicks and free kicks.
"For me, every squad announcement is like going to a funeral home. When I invite someone, the question arises as to why I invited them, and if I don't invite someone, why don't I? The answer is always this: I'm the head coach, and MLSZ (Hungarian Football Federation) assigned me this position. The whys can really freak me out, but I always make decisions on a professional basis. Obviously, I miss Dominik Szoboszlai and Zsolt Kalmár, and association football is not American football where we send in someone for a corner kick or a free kick and then thank them for their service. Szoboszlai is Szoboszlai. Replacing him isn't easy, but we have solutions. We have Kleinheisler, Sallai or Varga Roland, but first, we must create these situations."
The coach was talking about dreams concerning the European Championship.
“Everyone knows how to dream, but they're not worth anything on their own if we don't do everything we can to make them come true.”
