The Hungarian driver of Révész Racing wanted to celebrate with a victory, and he had every chance of doing so, as he won the right during timed practice to start from the pole position. It's another thing that his main opponent, Sascha Lenz, did not give himself away easily. In the first round, he overtook Kiss, and from then on, the two of them fought a smoldering battle.
Norbert Kiss eventually managed to overtake him – but it turned out he did at the yellow flag sign (which he didn't notice) and he was given a five-second penalty. Therefore, he finished second in the race, but because he arrived in Misano with a 46-point lead, he still won the championship. Full of emotions after the finish, he gave an interview with eyes suffused with tears:
"It's hard to find words, but it's a great feeling that even though it took a few years, I won my third championship title. I would like to thank Révész Racing and, personally, Bálint Révész, who did not stop building a team despite last year's difficult situation with the pandemic. This has resulted in us having both the individual and team European Championship title – we can be very proud of this as a new team! I'm very happy!"
